jimmyHey boys, hey girls, I’m sure you’re still recovering from American Idol fever—just like me! I know it has been such a power-packed week, and I was hooked all the way, especially the American Idol Season 8 Finale, which I think was a great way to end this season.

Since Karen already shared with you the shocking twist of this season (and I also feel the same way, Kris definitely rules!) so I am just going to give you a rundown of what I think is hot (and NOT) about this season’s Finale.

Alright let’s start with all the previous contestants showing up in all white doing a cover of Pink’s “So What?” It felt like I was in Idol heaven, but what a concept! They should have done a Star Trek inspired number instead—but who gets to play Spock? Uhm, Simon?!

Then all the previous contestants did duets with stars. Not all of them were a win though. I liked the Gokster’s number with Lionel Richie, they both sounded really good! Lil Rounds remains the diva as she brought the house down with Queen Latifah, and I also liked that neat little number with Alexis Grace and Anoop Desai cruising along with Jason Mraz—I missed these kids!

Steve Martin was hilarious with his banjo, singing with Megan Joy and Michael Sarver, and was even joking he may win the competition (tough chance)! And the surviving members of Queen rocked the house with Kris and Adam as they sang the epic hit “We Are the Champions”—aren’t they already?

David Cook was there of course, fresh from his sold-out concert in Manila with David Archuleta (I was there), to perform “Permanent”, which is off from his self-titled debut. He was pretty subdued for a change, but I found out his brother recently died of brain cancer. Sigh.

kara dioguardi undidThen the Bikini Girl strikes again! This time around, she takes over the stage with Kara, who actually gives her a run for her, uhm, assets—or maybe NOT?! Did that strip-down act have something to do with the ratings? Because for me it’s not working, sorry.

But the biggest highlight of the season would be to see the look on Kris Allen’s face when he found on he’s actually this season’s winner. I can still kris allen shockedhear him say, “You got to be kidding me, this is crazy!” We couldn’t believe it too, we sort of feel that the show has turned into The Adam Lambert Show, but then again, the votes already settled the score. We still can’t believe it, but this is the twist that makes our favorite show go out with a bang.

And so now we are about to go back to our normal lives and wait for the next season, but I hope that you had a buzz trailing me and Karen as we give you the latest American Idol updates just like true die-hard fans can! I hope you also don’t miss out on supporting my upcoming projects, I will do my best to update you! So in the meantime, enjoy the Idol hangover, and I will bump into you guys again soon, real soon! Cheerios!

karenWaaah! Forgive me, my dears for being too excited! I’m sure you can’t get over the biggest twist that has ever come up from our favorite weekly habit, American Idol Season 8! Right now I am still trying to recover from my shock, although it’s a good one, I must say, Don’t you agree?

I still can’t believe Kris actually won! YIPEE! It was so unexpected, but that’s the way it is with the best surprises right? As I remember how he actually started his Idol journey with his rather forgettable audition, I can’t believe how this charming crooner with great guitar skills whose talent actually shone through as weeks went by in this season. He’s actually a great example of a dark horse, and I must say, he’s a lucky one (and a cute one too)!

kris allen wins Kris and Adam have very different performing styles. While Adam is really more of the showstopper—he was almost always in the limelight throughout the season—Kris is more of the simple guy, unassuming, but at the same time showcasing his talent the best way he knew how, and he always manages to nail all the numbers that he performs. I even liked his version of “Heartless” by Kanye West, which was actually his worst, according to the judges. So I must say, he’s definitely not bad at all!

Kris and Adam’s duet for the finals, “We Are the Champions”, was definitely the song for the both of them. Even Simon said, “To both of you, and I don’t normally mean this, I thought you were both brilliant…the future’s all yours.” That was just so touching—I’m sure it meant a lot to the both of them.

And then they did the duets with other artists. Kris did a heartfelt number with Keith Urban, one singer who is actually resembles his vocal style, while Adam as usual was just a delight onstage with his pyrotechnic number with Kiss, the rock legends. That basically showed just how different the two of them were.

I also think they were friends, and competition wasn’t really that tough between the both of them, maybe it’s because they didn’t really have the same style, so they had a musical camaraderie of some sort, and that I think is truly important to a competition, to learn all that you can from your fellow contestants, because sometimes it’s really not just about the winning, but how you get there and grow along the way, right?

adam lambert with kiss But there can only be one winner, and it’s actually us who decided on Kris for the win—imagine, over 100 million votes came in! Wow! Adam is definitely also a winner in his own right, he made it seem so easy and fun, and he’s a true star. He’s actually the highlight of Season 8! That’s why even I was shocked that he didn’t win this competition but he doesn’t really need to feel bad, because there’s such a bright future ahead of him. I’m sure next year he will also have his own chart-topping album just like Kris!

I am so happy right now, but also at the same time sad, because my favorite show (and yours too) just wrapped up another great season—with such a twist! Of course I’ll miss my weekly habit, but definitely I’m going to be listening to these Idols conquer the airwaves soon, really soon, and I also plan to share my own hits as well, so watch out for it! I definitely had fun updating you week after week, and I hope you had fun too as well—hope to catch you guys again soon, and always keep smiling, it will take you places!

karenHello my dears! I know it’s been a pretty exciting week this week for you, not just because of the Idol finals but also because I heard that the two DAVIDs from Season 7 is in Manila right now for a tour—wish I was there to catch it with you, but I’m sure a lot of you Idol addicts are having a blast!

Well we are supposed to have fun even if the season is almost ending right? Because the excitement is just too much! I mean, it has me on my toes the whole time, especially the last episode, which is also one of the saddest—

danny gokey eliminationDuring the start of this season I have always shared with you how I have admired Danny Gokey, not only for his soulful voice, but the way he kept on fighting even after his wife Sophia’s death. He is truly an inspiration for everyone who wants to keep on moving and following their dreams. Maybe it is his training in church, or maybe it’s just his pleasant personality, that makes the Gokster one of the most likeable contestants ever on Idol! It is not even that surprising to know that he’s never been in the Bottom Three of this competition—now that must be a record right?

We all know we like the Gokster, there’s no question about it J But the votes just weren’t enough to have him make it into the finals, and maybe that’s just the way it is. I have seen some mildly violent reactions, but most people I have talked to agree that maybe it really is Gokey’s time to go. Throughout the season he has shown the best of his talent, adapting to all the genres beyond his gospel training, showcasing the range of his voice. People will never stop liking him, I’m sure of it.

Even the judges seemed to have a hard time letting him go, just take a look at the reactions on their faces! Simon parted with a compliment, even calling his performance simply “brilliant”—because that’s just the way it is, brilliant in a beautiful way—you can feel Danny’s heart in every song he sings, and I think that’s the best part of what he shared with his audience, with us J

The Gokster has no hard feelings about it though. He says he wants to start a musical movement and make an R&B album mixed in with some Latin beats as influenced by his wife—pretty soulful and exotic as well, and it makes me excited! Now that sounds like a plan! J But in the meantime, we might as well root for Kris or Adam in next week’s finale—who is your bet?! I know it’s going to be Adam for the win—I just don’t know if Jimmy will agree with me, because I think he’s rooting for Kris! So, may the best boy win! J

jimmyHowdy! We are almost wrapping up yet another great season of American Idol, and as usual, it’s going out with a bang, with the face-off of two of the best new talents the recording industry will ever know! How time flies, to think that I was just watching the two DAVIDs battle it out and right now they’re touring in Manila—wow! It sure does fly when you’re having fun!

Now it’s the screams versus the soul. Adam Lambert and Kris Allen may be two totally different performers, but they share the same passion for showcasing their talent, and that’s their common denominator. It could just very well be one of the most exciting face-offs in Idol history.

kris allen eliminationI really thought Kris was on his way out after Simon’s comment on his cover of the club hit by Kanye West, “Heartless”. It was a great acoustic take on the song, and somehow he still managed to nail it! Simon got pretty scary though, when he said that for sure Kris is on his way out. I’m sure he got all the votes that saved him!

adam lambert elimination

As for Adam, the pretty boy who screamed all his way into the season, he’s more or less a sure shot, as I have said from the start. Everybody just loves him and his crazy antics, what can I say? I’m not really an Adam fan, but I know how he can be so charming and he never fails to surprise everybody. He’s just a delight to see onstage, thanks to his theater background that just makes him so watch-worthy.

For consecutive seasons now the American Idol finale usually involves a sausage fest for some reason! I think it may be because of all the girls watching? Haha. But seriously, while there were girls in this competition that I really thought would make it, like Allison and Lil Rounds, they just didn’t get the votes. And the way Kris actually did rise to the top is pretty unexpected, hence the term dark horse—

kris allen vs adam lambert And who knows? He might just end up walking away as the newest Idol! Well I know a lot of you are into Adam, and I mean well, but basically I am rooting for him and his low-key style, he’s pretty much got a lot of potential. But it still remains all to be seen, right Karen?

This may very well be a face-off worth not missing out—and we better catch it. Go Kris! May you do all the underdogs proud, hahaha!

jimmy

Well well well, what can I say? It’s the second year in a row that boys are actually the ones battling it out for the Idol finals! Alright, don’t get me wrong, I expected our little girl Allison to actually make it to the Idol finals, but for some reason, she got the boot this week, despite her great cover of that hit by Alice Cooper, “School’s Out”. Her number was definitely edgy, thanks to all the black leather, but I guess it didn’t get all the votes it needed.

So now we have a sausage fest for the finals, and everybody at this adam lambert rock week1point is pretty much rooting for their own favorites, Adam for the Idol die-hards, the Gokster for the loyal ones, and Kris for all the ladies, single or not! But seriously, I think all of them really deserve to be in on the win, but the judges will definitely be confused before they can actually really decide, that’s for sure!

Another highlight of this week’s episode is when Paula took to the stage—it had everybody saying whoa! and wow! at the same time. We all know how big she was in the 80s, and she proves that she’s still got it in her with the debut of her new single, Í’m Just Here for the Music”. She can still give Britney a run for her money, hahaha!

danny gokey rock weekNewly-reunited No Doubt also blew the house down to complement the rockin’ theme if this weeks ep—they’re back and they just seem to have a blast now more than ever, just like they did way back in 1995, or maybe even better! But well, of course they get old, so the still-hot Gwen Stefani ended up doing some pushups after she got exhausted doing two numbers. Whew!

Then there’s Chris Daughtry—also debuting his band’s new single, “No Surprise”. I still wonder why he didn’t make it into the finals way back in Idol Season 4, but glad that he still made it into his career nevertheless.

kris allen come together1 Next week seems to be pretty poppy with Katy Perry and Jordin Sparks—pretty hot (I know) but it says a lot about the fierce competition from the boys! I am curious to find out their personal choices for the songs they are supposed to sing, and I am actually surprised with myself—I am now rooting for Kris Allen for the win! There, I said it. Must be the way he plays his guitar—sort of reminds me of myself! Haha!

Let’s keep on being Idol addicts! The finals are just getting to be too close! Just enjoy the ride, boys and girls!

You know you just can’t get enough of that Idol fix! Log on to www.totedaddy.net and keep yourself in the loop!

karenHello, hello! Another week as we go closer and closer to the finals of our favorite show! Imagine that?! I can’t actually believe how fast it is going, but well take it from the old saying that time flies when you’re having fun! And every week, I always enjoy giving you my own updates on this series that we all so love to watch!
Right now, even though I am in the midst of doing a series of shows and promoting my album, I still make the time to watch American Idol Season 8—it just cannot be missed! The performances are always just amazing, and it’s going to be a really hard choice for the judges and the voters (including you!) to decide on who’s going to be this season’s Idol.
adam and allison rock duet1This week had a more challenging twist for our favorite contestants because it is Rock Week! All that headbanging and guitar screeching makes way for our Idols’ great voices—how great a combination can that be? I love rock music in the sense that it always makes you feel alive with its rhythms, although I must say it is a pretty much a very tricky genre in terms of vocals.
And yet, as we can all predict, all the performances are just mind-blowing! Allison Iraheta, lovely in black leather, is definitely cut out for the part with her bluesy voice and her cover of Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out”. Kris Allen, who I have really gotten to like more and more as he showcased his talent in this competition, chose a rock classic: “Come Together” by the Beatles (I just love them!) and just shone through along with his guitar skills, which is one of the things the girls like most about him (oh, am I included in that one?)!
Adam Lambert continues to get most of the votes—and who can blame his fans? I really think he can perform his best from genre to genre, he’s just really versatile at that! He took on another rock legend, Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love”, and just took the stage like a rock god—he even got a standing ovation for that one! Who can forget the Gokster?! Not me of course. His cover of Aerosmith’s “Dream On” got mixed reviews, but I sort of liked his scream at the end of the song, it was just out of the ordinary!
And then they did the duets! This was my favorite part for this episode. Kris and the Gokster went on first with a version of “Renegade” by Styx. I know it’s kinda awkward to pair two guys together, but the way they just blended their harmonies impressed even the judges! Adam and Allison seem to really have that rockin’ chemistry as they covered Foghat’s “Slow Ride”—they sure looked comfortable together as they were both reaching for those high notes. Randy even called them the rock stars of the season.
Next week, let’s brace ourselves as the heat of the competition gets more and more intense, even though summer’s almost over! I know you’ll all agree, but all I just want to say is, Idol definitely rocks!
Don’t miss out as your favorite Idols battle it out for the much-awaited finals! Just keep on logged in to www.totedaddy.net and vote!

American Idol Fab Four is back on the centerstage tonight as they continue their quest of realizing their Idol dream.

The Idol stage suffered from technical accidents but as they say, “The Show Must Go on”. It will be a first as the Top 4 will be paired up and will perform Rock classics.

Slash (former lead guitarist of legendary rock band Guns ‘n Roses) is this week’s mentor.

Adam Lambert, “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin – Randy thinks Adam and Slash should do a record. Kara says Adam should be a rock god. Whole lot-a perfect says Paula while Simon thinks it was one of his best performance and nobody can top that.21672_2

Allison Iraheta, “Cry Baby” by Janis Joplin – Randy did not love the song choice. Kara thinks Allison was little nervous but likes Allison transformation when she’s in the stage. Paula thinks Allison is fearless. Simon likes her terrific vocals but thinks that Allison is trying too hard and Simon recommended a Queen song.

Kris Allen and Danny Gokey, “Renegade” by Styx – Randy likes the harmony and thinks that Kris and Danny compliment each other. Kara says both guys had some moments. Paula says it was powerful and compelling. Simon thinks Danny was better than Kris.

Kris Allen, “Come Together” by The Beatles – Randy like the way Kris play the guitar and he enjoyed it. Kara however thinks it was not a great performance. Paula says Kris’ artistic ability and signature makes it a great performance. Simon says it’s like eating ice for lunch, boring and jammed.

Danny Gokey, “Dream On” by Aerosmith – It was alright according to Randy but an A+ for effort. Kara thinks Danny took it a little too far.  Paula isn’t sure about Danny’s song choice. Simon didn’t like Danny’s last note and it was over the top but thinks Danny will be safe tonight.

Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert, “Slow Ride” by Foghat – Randy thinks Adam and Allison should do a duet on their albums and it was a bomb. It was a perfect marriage and there were totally in sync says Paula. In the battle of duets they win this one and because of that, Allison was given a good chance of staying put by Adam says Simon.

See who goes home! Results show is tomorrow and Eye on Idol has it LIVE! Tune in regularly to Eye On Idol Friendster page for the latest American Idol news, weekly predictions and betting tips.

kkong1igh, how time flies! Summer is almost over and the rains are now starting—it seemed only yesterday that I was sharing my picks in the Top 36 and now, we are almost down to the finals of our favorite show, American Idol Season 8!

And as I said before, this is where the real competition starts, as we see the “true colors” of our favorites, with their talents and performance level. This is the part that can get a little tough for the contestants, and I can just imagine the pressure that they feel. But you know, once you’re actually up on that stage, all the nervous feelings sort of stop, and you actually find your confidence, most especially if you are really passionate about what you’re doing, and I think they all are.

This week was a treat for us fans not only because we see the all the best in our favorites, but I loved the musical selections too. This week, they performed standards from the golden age of jazz and the classics, kris-allen-rat-packwhich really tested their vocal flexibility. I must say the selections were all great!

Hooray for the Goksters! Danny Gokey was just simply stellar, in Paula’s words, as he did his version of “Come Rain Come Shine”. I really think he can make it in this genre, the emotions really shine through with his bluesy vocals.

Kris Allen, with his usual charms, was accompanied by piano and some horns as he did “The Way You Look Tonight”, which is one of my favorites of all time, but it’s a pretty challenging song too with its low keys. As usual all his girl fans were screaming, and I really think he stands a good chance to win in this competition too, although Simon doesn’t think so!

Matt Giraud’s version of “My Funny Valentine” was low key as well but very sincere, and I am impressed with the fact that he took on a very challenging song. Simon even called it “the only believable, authentic song I have heard tonight”, and I think that must have been the best compliment ever, but unfortunately, Matt got eliminated for real, but it was fun while he stayed on in the competition and even got a judge’s save for the first time in American Idol history.

Adam Lambert had the best entrance I have seen this season! It kind of reminded me about Broadway actually, with the stairs lighted pink and his white suit. His version of “Feeling Good” was great as usual, he seems to care about winning and giving out all his best all the time.

allison-iraheta-rat-packBut the best performance of the night belongs to Allison Iraheta, with her version of “Someone To Watch Over Me” that made me fall in love over and over again. I can’t believe she’s just turned 17, her voice really is one of a kind! And with her very innocent and tender performance, I’m sure she deserves a spot in the finals too.

OK, here’s the part where I get confused because everyone seems to deserve a spot in the finals! But of course this is a competition and we should just keep crossing our fingers and know that only the best can win…can’t wait for next week! Keep safe now!

The Idol Edge

jim1Hey hey! Another week whizzed by, and we are getting closer and closer to finding out who’s gonna be the next American Idol! Actually I am getting more and more curious each week, because surprises just pop up when you least expect them right? Maybe, just maybe, the winner will be turn out to be not the one we thought.

Since we are down to just four of the most talented and lucky contestants that the whole world is all voting for, I want to share my thoughts on each of their advantages and what can possibly make them win this season’s competition. While the newly-eliminated Matt Giraud (who I think has nine lives!) thinks that Idol is just a popularity contest, I think it’s a bit of that, but more.

Let’s start with Danny Gokey, who I know is an early favorite. Well, who wouldn’t like his success story? This worship director from Wisconsin has had a very touching story, the way he lost his wife before joining this competition. He has so far been very consistent with the votes as well as his performances. And this week, he proved his flexibility as he did the jazz classics too. Everybody likes the Gokster, don’t you?danny-gokey-rat-pack1

Well Adam Lambert is no stranger to fame. He lived a great deal in the limelight even before he joined Idol, being in several film and theater projects. David Cook said Lambert is actually his favorite, and there’s no question about his mind-blowing performances with his trademark falsetto. But right now I also hear some people complain that he’s become a little too good for this competition.

Just turned seventeen and having the time of her life, Allison Iraheta basically blossomed during this season. She wasn’t really one of the favorites during the start, but as weeks went by, her talent shone through. I just love her rockin’ style, and with her very heartfelt performance of “Someone To Watch Over Me” this week, I’m sure you’re bound to fall in love with this girl, if you haven’t yet.

Then there’s the dark horse of this season, Kris Allen, who has really proved himself to be one of the contestants to watch out for this season. Not a lot of people took him seriously at first, but now everyone thinks it might be a Kris-Adam faceoff in the finals. Amazing how someone can do a complete turnaround in a matter of weeks!

As Idols, each of them may have the voice, but each of them also has that unique edge that can take them to the top with the help of your votes of course. I need to think really hard before I tell you who I think is up for the final faceoff. Better yet, let’s wait for the results of Rock Week—then let’s make up our minds! In the meantime, just keep on voting!
